Coolock Says No. Press Release.

@everyone
We have received reliable information about the meeting that took place this morning re the Crown Paints site. The attendees of the meeting are below for you to see. We have received a copy of the statement which they have decided to send out also.
None of the Coolock Says No representatives were contacted to attend this meeting and none of the concerned parents in the area were asked to attend. The meeting comprised NGO groups and some community groups, also officials who have had no contact with the actual protestors/ parents and residents who have concerns re the use of the Crown site. We might also point out that the people who make up these groups most lightly leave their places of work in Coolock at 5pm and do not have to worry about what happens in our area after that time. Their children most lightly don’t play in our local parks and so on, therefore it is very easy for them to make agreements which won’t impact them and their families.
The spin.. and believe us it is spin, is that the concerns relating to population of the Crown site is purely around school places and doctors’ appointments… this is not true, there has always been a shortage of these things in our community. The issue is about placing 500 if not more undocumented & unvetted men (and it is men) into our area and leaving them to their own devices.
A local Hotel on the N32 is full to the brim of these men, Belcamp park has become a no go zone for most, with gangs of men hanging around, drinking, doing drugs in the bushes and leering at women and girls in the park. We know this as we have cleared some of these drug dens ourselves. This is what we refuse to accept in our area, an area with its own social issues already.
The groups that attended this meeting today believe they can sell the people of Coolock out, they believe that by holding this meeting they can convince you and us that the community want this, and they have majority agreement, this is not so. The Says No Groups have been protesting peacefully about this site since March and they have been excluded from these talks completely.
Please familiarise yourselves with the groups below…. The people within every business, NGOs and Community group below will be subject to protest by the actual community and residents of Coolock and the Says No Groups if they attempt to sell our community and people out.
Coolock Says No to the Crown Paint IPAS centre and will continue to do so.
